Abstract

The manuscript "Micodiversity of Nuevo León: SECRETS AND WONDERS OF BASIDIOMYCETES" presents an overview of the diversity of fungi in the state of Nuevo León, Mexico, and their biotechnological potential. It highlights the importance of Basidiomycetes in ecosystems, their role in the decomposition of organic matter, their influence in the recirculation of nutrients, and their possible application in the biotechnological industry. The work of Dr. Guadalupe Gutiérrez Soto and her research team focuses on the study and selection of fungi with biotechnological properties, such as the production of enzymes with applications in various sectors, obtaining antimicrobial, antifungal and antioxidant metabolites, and the valorization of agricultural residues. Several fungal species studied are mentioned, and their potential for developing new biotechnological products and processes is highlighted. The executive summary provides an overview of the paper's contents, highlighting the relevance of Nuevo León's mycodiversity and its potential for biotechnology.
