Abstract

Energy consumption in agriculture is a key aspect to consider in the quest for a more sustainable and resilient food system. While it presents significant challenges, it also offers opportunities for innovation and improvement. The transition to more sustainable agricultural practices and the use of more efficient technologies are vital steps to reduce energy consumption and mitigate the environmental impact of agriculture in the future. In this regard, Life Cycle Assessments of energy consumption in agriculture are a powerful tool for assessing and improving the sustainability and energy efficiency of the overall food system. Providing a comprehensive assessment of energy use in agricultural production can also help guide informed business, policy, and consumer decision-making toward a more sustainable and resilient future.
