The Faculty of Agronomy of the Universidad Autónoma de Nuevo León is pleased to present the first issue of Volume 2 of the Revista de Ciencias Agroalimentarias y Biotecnología. In this edition, we make available to the public a selection of popular science articles that address relevant topics in the agri-food and biotechnology sectors. Among the topics covered are the use of biological control as a sustainable tool for the management of agricultural pests, as well as the significance of the TIF seal in guaranteeing hygiene and safety in Mexico's food industry. A historical analysis of water management and preservation, from ancient civilizations to modern systems, is also presented.

Other articles highlight the biotechnology revolution with the birth of Dolly, the cloned sheep, and gene editing in humans, including the case of HIV-immune twins and recent innovations in primates such as ANDi. Finally, advances in the fight against dengue and current strategies to mitigate its impact are presented. We invite the general public, as well as students, academics and researchers, to consult this issue. Scientific dissemination is key to understanding the challenges and opportunities in the agri-food and biotechnology sectors. Access the journal through our digital platform and follow us on our social networks to be aware of future publications.
